3 Ton Double Axle Car Trailer 5.0m

The car trailer 5m is a longer, heavier drive-on unit at 5.0 m by 2.0 m, plated at 3 000 kg gross on twin 1 800 kg axles. The extra length and plating over the 4.5 m car trailer let it carry larger vehicles, a bakkie with a canopy or a light SUV, with room to strap the load down properly.

What the car trailer 5m carries

Five metres of deck at 3 000 kg GVM covers most of what a light-vehicle combination can legally tow: full-size sedans, bakkies, small 4x4s and non-runners on recovery. The braked tandem running gear keeps a heavy vehicle under control on the descent and tracking straight in traffic, which is exactly what dealers, workshops and recovery operators need when the load is a whole car.

Build and deck

The chassis and A-frame are 76 x 38 x 5 mm steel channel in a ladder-frame layout, on twin 1 800 kg leaf-sprung axles and 14 inch wheels. Loading ramps let a vehicle drive straight on, and tie-down points along the deck secure it by the wheels or chassis. It is finished in painted 2K Duco.

Payload, GVM and licensing

Plated at 3 000 kg gross on 1 800 kg axles, this trailer needs a tow vehicle with real braked towing capacity and, for most drivers, an EB licence code for the combination. The supplier publishes no dependable tare, so we confirm the empty mass and the vehicle weight it can carry in writing before you order. The combination mass and licence rules are in the National Road Traffic Act; securing the vehicle is the driver responsibility.
