2.3 Ton Double Axle Car Trailer 4.5m

This double axle car trailer is a 4.5 m by 2.0 m drive-on unit plated at 2 300 kg gross, built to move a car, bakkie or light vehicle safely between towns, workshops and events. It runs twin 1 600 kg leaf-sprung axles, is braked, and loads over ramps onto a full-width deck with tie-down points for securing a vehicle by all four wheels.

What the double axle car trailer carries

At 4.5 m by 2.0 m the deck takes most passenger cars and light bakkies with room to strap them down properly. Two axles spread the load and keep the trailer tracking straight behind the tow vehicle, and the braked running gear means the trailer helps stop a loaded car rather than shoving the tow vehicle. It suits dealers, workshops, recovery operators and anyone moving a non-runner or a track car.

Build and deck

The chassis and A-frame are 76 x 38 mm steel channel in a ladder-frame layout, on twin 1 600 kg leaf-sprung axles and 14 inch wheels. Loading ramps let a vehicle drive straight on, and the deck carries tie-down points for wheel straps or a chassis tie. It is finished in painted 2K Duco. Securing a car to a trailer is the towing driver responsibility, and we will advise on strap layout.

Payload, GVM and licensing

Plated at 2 300 kg gross on 1 600 kg axles and braked as standard, this trailer needs a tow vehicle with matching braked towing capacity. The supplier publishes no dependable tare, so we confirm the empty mass and the vehicle weight it can carry in writing before you order. The combination mass and licence rules are set out in the National Road Traffic Act, and securing the vehicle to the trailer is the driver responsibility.
