About this trailer

Vendors who trade at taxi ranks, sports grounds, roadside pitches and weekend markets are working somewhere with no power, no water and nobody watching the stock overnight. The Venter Vendor answers that with a stainless steel serving hatch, a stainless splash back behind the cooking area, burglar barred sliding windows and two lockable outside enclosures. TRAILERS SA retails it from Hartswater, supplied as the trailer only.

Venter Vendor specifications

Published builder figures. This body is shorter and lighter in rating than the kiosk family, and runs on a different wheel and stud pattern.

Stainless steel where the cooking happens

The hatch itself is stainless, not painted steel, and so is the full wall panel behind the cooking position. That is the detail that separates this body from the kiosks: it is specified for hot food and daily wash downs rather than for dry counter retail. The hatch measures 1865 by 745 mm, opening into an awning above and a counter below, and the floor carries a nonslip covering that can be hosed out at the end of a trading day.

Security, ventilation and storage

  • Two sliding windows high on the right side with burglar proofing fitted
  • Padlockable rear access door with a retractable lockable step
  • Two padlockable general purpose enclosures mounted ahead of the mudguards
  • Padlockable well ventilated nosecone with storage tray shelves
  • Ratchet strap bracket in the nosecone for two 19 kg gas bottles
  • Four spring loaded roof hatches and an internal overhead light over the counter
  • Floor space for a fridge, a freezer or both

Running gear and chassis

  • Corrosion resistant sheet steel floor and steel body
  • 1800 kg axle of 1830 mm on ten blade leaf springs, 250 mm ground clearance
  • Sigma auto reverse coupler with run in brakes
  • 14 inch five stud wheels on 185 x 14 inch tyres, one spare on a padlockable bracket
  • Two adjustable support legs on the rear corners
  • Adjustable jockey wheel, LED lights and a caravan plug inlet at the right rear

Payload at 1400 kg GVM

GVM here is 1400 kg rather than the 1525 kg of the kiosk bodies, and tare is the same 800 kg, so payload works out at 600 kg. That is the tightest allowance of any unit in this range with a hatch, and it is the number to design the fit out against. Two gas cylinders, a fridge, a freezer, water and a day of stock will use most of it. The trailer is braked, sits well over 750 kg and must be registered, licensed and roadworthy under the National Road Traffic Act.

Vendor body against the kiosk body

The kiosks are 2790 mm long, rated to 1525 kg and ride on 195 x 14 inch six stud wheels with a 2205 mm hatch. This body is 2660 mm long, rated to 1400 kg and runs 185 x 14 inch five stud wheels with a 1865 mm hatch, but it adds the stainless work, the side windows and the outside lockers. The Double Hatch Vendor uses the same shell with hatches on both sides. All of them are listed on the retail and vending trailers page.

What trailer only means

It means the shell, the hatch, the shelving in the nosecone and the running gear, with nothing installed for a particular trade. No fryer, no griddle, no sink, no gas piping, no power reticulation and no branding. Those are customised per order because the requirement differs with every operator, and they are quoted separately from the figure shown above. Send us the trade and the equipment list through the quote request form and we will price the complete unit.

Delivery, collection and warranty

Free delivery applies anywhere in South Africa on orders over R20 000, with the conditions on the delivery page, and collection from our Hartswater yard is available instead. We are a retailer rather than the manufacturer, so the protection on this trailer is the builder warranty, which we administer on your behalf. The warranty page sets out what it covers and how to bring a claim to us.

Questions about this trailer

What does trailer only mean?

You get the body, the stainless hatch, the nosecone shelving and the running gear. Cooking equipment, sinks, gas piping, power reticulation and branding are not included.

Why is the payload only 600 kg?

GVM is published at 1400 kg and tare at 800 kg. The kiosk bodies are rated 125 kg higher, so they carry 725 kg on the same tare.

Is it suitable for hot food?

The body is specified for it, with a stainless hatch, a stainless splash back behind the cooking position and a washable nonslip floor. The equipment itself is quoted separately.

How secure is it when left standing?

The rear door and hatch padlock, the two sliding windows carry burglar proofing, and the nosecone and the two outside enclosures lock independently.

Does it need brakes and a licence?

It is supplied with run in brakes and at 1400 kg GVM it is well above the 750 kg threshold, so it must be registered, licensed and roadworthy.
