About this trailer

The Special Purpose Kiosk is the odd one out in this range: it carries no serving hatch at all. In place of a counter it has two full height doors, one at the rear and one into a sealed front nosecone compartment, which makes it a mobile room rather than a mobile counter. TRAILERS SA sells it as a retailer from Hartswater and delivers nationwide, and the figure shown above is for the trailer rather than for whatever you fit inside it.

Special Purpose Kiosk specifications

Published builder figures for the trailer as supplied. Internal equipment is quoted separately because it is built to the application.

Two lockable spaces instead of a counter

The layout splits the trailer into two independent compartments. The main body runs the full 2790 mm of floor at 1530 mm inside width with 2085 mm of side height, so an adult stands upright and a fridge, a freezer or a bench of equipment fits without stacking. Ahead of it the nosecone is isolated from the main body and gets its own padlockable full height door, so stock, cash or tools stay locked away from whoever is working in the back. Both doors are 1760 by 860 mm and each has a retractable spring loaded step rated to 200 kg.

Fitted inside as standard

  • Aluminium tread plate cladding over a corrosion resistant steel floor structure
  • Four storage tray shelves on the left of the main area and one on the right
  • Two padlockable storage containers mounted inside on the left
  • An electrical distribution switchboard, standard on this model
  • Gas bottle securing bracket in the main area for two 19 kg bottles
  • Internal overhead light for the working area
  • Two roof vents in the main body, two roof vents and two wall vents in the nosecone

Body, chassis and running gear

  • Corrosion resistant steel body on a braked 1800 kg axle of 1830 mm
  • Ten blade leaf springs and 220 mm of ground clearance
  • Two 14 inch six stud wheels on 195 x 14 inch tyres plus one spare
  • Padlockable spare wheel bracket on the left mudguard
  • Galvanised Sigma auto reverse coupler with run in brakes
  • Four heavy duty adjustable support legs, one at each corner
  • Adjustable 200 mm jockey wheel, LED lights and a caravan plug inlet at the right rear

Payload, licensing and towing

Tare is 800 kg against a GVM of 1525 kg, which leaves 725 kg for the fit out, the stock and the gas. That goes quickly once a fridge, shelving and two 19 kg cylinders are aboard, so weigh the finished unit rather than assuming. The axle is braked and the trailer is far above the 750 kg threshold, so it must be registered, licensed and roadworthy, and the tow vehicle rated for the loaded mass. The framework is the National Road Traffic Act. Trading permits are separate and remain your responsibility.

How it differs from the hatch kiosks

Body and chassis are shared with the 7 ft Kiosk and the Kiosk Custom, all three at 2790 by 1530 mm and 1525 kg GVM, so the decision is not about the trailer. Those two carry a 2205 mm serving hatch in the side and three support legs. This one has no hatch, a second full height door, four legs and the switchboard included rather than optional. Serve over a counter and a hatch model is the cheaper answer. Need a closed lockable working room with a separate secure store and this is the body to start from. The full range sits on the retail and vending trailers page.

Who uses a kiosk without a serving hatch

Operators who choose it are usually not selling over a counter. Mobile testing and screening units, sampling and demonstration teams, gate and ticket control at events, tool and spares support for a plant hire fleet and small mobile offices on remote sites all want the same thing: a weatherproof steel room at standing height that locks and tows behind a bakkie. The isolated nosecone is what makes it work wherever cash or controlled stock has to be kept apart from the working area.

Fit out, delivery and warranty

The interior is built per order. Counters, sinks, power reticulation, refrigeration and branding are quoted against what you intend to do and none of it sits in the figure above, so read that figure as the trailer only. Send your brief through the quote request form and we will price the complete unit in writing. Free delivery applies nationwide over R20 000, with the detail on the delivery page, and collection from Hartswater is always available. The builder warranty applies and we administer it on your behalf, as set out on the warranty page.

Questions about this trailer

Does the Special Purpose Kiosk have a serving hatch?

No. This model is supplied with two full height doors, one at the rear and one into the sealed nosecone, and no counter hatch. If you need to serve over a counter, look at the 7 ft Kiosk or the Kiosk Custom.

What is the payload?

Published payload is 725 kg on a tare of 800 kg and a GVM of 1525 kg. The fit out, the stock and the gas cylinders all come out of that 725 kg.

Is the interior included in the price?

No. The price covers the trailer with its standard shelving, storage containers, switchboard and vents. Counters, refrigeration, plumbing and branding are quoted per order.

Does it have to be licensed?

Yes. It is a braked trailer at 1525 kg GVM, well above the 750 kg threshold, so it must be registered, licensed and roadworthy. A trading permit is separate and is your responsibility.

Can a bakkie tow it?

Most double cab bakkies are rated for it, but check the towing capacity in your vehicle handbook against the loaded mass rather than against the tare.

Need a trailer quote?

Tell us the load, the tow vehicle and the town. We come back with a spec and a price.
