WhatsApp about this trailerAbout this trailer
Measure the load before you assume you need a big trailer. The Mini Furniture Trailer is the small end of the furniture range: a 2 300 mm floor, 1 500 mm between the sides, 240 kg empty and plated at 750 kg gross, which leaves 510 kg of published payload. It is the unit for a student move, a market stall, a garden clearance or a single appliance, towed behind a car that would struggle with anything heavier.
The Mini Furniture Trailer has low sides, not walls
This is the point most buyers miss. The published side height is 240 mm, against 760 mm on the larger furniture models, so it behaves like a low-sided flatbed with a lip rather than an enclosed box. Boxes and loose items must be strapped rather than simply contained, and a tall load needs tying to the front rail and the side lugs before it moves.
- 2 300 mm floor length, 1 500 mm inside width
- 240 mm side height with a front rail
- 1.6 mm electro-galvanised body and floor
- U-shaped floor pressing for rigidity
- Lugs on both body sides for lashing
- Seven blade leaf springs on a 900 kg axle
- Spare wheel 165 x 13 inch included

Payload, the 750 kg line and licensing
The gross figure here is exactly 750 kg, which is the mass at which the regulations start requiring a braking system, and the specification publishes no brakes. That is legitimate at 750 kg but it leaves no margin at all: load 511 kg and the trailer is over its plate. Braking thresholds, towing limits and licence classes are set by the National Road Traffic Act and its regulations, so read those rather than relying on what the trailer looks like it can hold.
In practice, treat 510 kg as a real ceiling and weigh a heavy load rather than guessing. Wet sand, rubble and firewood reach 510 kg in a far smaller volume than the deck holds. The National Road Traffic Act regulations apply to the towing vehicle as well, and a small car is often the limiting factor long before the trailer is.
Where it fits against the bigger furniture models
The 3 m furniture trailer is the next step and it is a different class of machine: braked, 760 mm sides, 1 000 kg of published payload and nearly double the tare. If you move furniture for a living, start there. This Mini earns its place when the tow vehicle is small, storage at home is tight, or the loads are light and frequent rather than heavy and occasional. Both sit in the furniture trailers category.
What the price buys at this end of the range
Cheaper small trailers exist. What is published here is a 900 kg rated axle under a 750 kg plate, seven blade springs, a galvanised body and floor rather than painted light sheet, a U-shaped floor pressing, and a spare wheel in the box. The axle rating carrying more than the plate allows is deliberate headroom, and it is the sort of detail that decides whether a trailer is still straight after five years of dirt roads.
Loading it without damaging the load
With 240 mm sides, straps do the work. Run ratchet straps across the load in both directions using the lugs, put heavier items over the axle rather than at the tail, and keep enough weight forward to hold the nose down on the ball. A light nose on a short trailer is what starts a sway at speed, and no amount of payload margin fixes it.
Delivery, warranty and ordering
This unit is over R20 000, so delivery is free, and collection from our Hartswater yard is welcome if you would rather inspect it before it goes home. TRAILERS SA is a retailer and not the manufacturer, so the cover is the builder warranty, which we administer on your behalf, with terms on our warranty page. If you are weighing this against the larger models, describe your typical load on the request a quote form and we will answer with published figures.

Questions about this trailer
How much can the Mini Furniture Trailer carry?
The published payload is 510 kg, being a 750 kg GVM plate less a 240 kg tare. Treat that as a hard ceiling and weigh dense loads such as sand or rubble rather than judging them by volume.
Does it have brakes?
No. The specification publishes no braking system, which is permissible at a 750 kg gross plate. The braking threshold itself is set by the National Road Traffic Act regulations, not by us.
Is it enclosed like the larger furniture trailers?
No. Side height is 240 mm against 760 mm on the 3 m and 3.6 m models, so it is a low-sided deck with a front rail. Loads need strapping to the side lugs rather than simply being contained.
What tow vehicle does it suit?
At 240 kg empty and 750 kg fully loaded it is within reach of most small cars, but check the towing mass on your own vehicle plate and handbook before ordering.
Is a spare wheel included?
Yes, a 165 x 13 inch spare matching the road wheels is published as part of the build.
