WhatsApp about this trailerAbout this trailer
The Hunter Offroader trailer is the reinforced version of the Offroader, built for hunting parties and the loads that come back with them: 2 250 kg gross, 1 480 kg of payload, a 2 500 kg axle and run-in brakes rated at 2 365 kg. It weighs 770 kg empty, which is the price of the heavier chassis.
What the Hunter Offroader trailer is built for
The body is the same 2 100 mm by 1 100 mm as the Offroader, with the same 330 mm of clearance and 215 by 15 inch tyres on 6-stud rims. What changes is everything carrying the load. The chassis is reinforced, the axle steps up from 1 800 kg to 2 500 kg, and the suspension moves to a 10-blade 50 by 8 mm 915 mm pack. That is why the payload rises to 1 480 kg while the body stays the same size: this trailer is rated to carry weight, not simply volume.
The standard equipment reads like a list written by people who have loaded a trailer in the dark. Four padlockable jerry can holders sit outside the body. Two padlockable enclosures take tools and equipment separately from the main compartment. A heavy-duty roof rack carries a large tent and includes a table compartment. Two extending back stays and a jockey wheel level the trailer on ground that slopes, which is most of the ground worth camping on.

Payload, braking and the tow vehicle
1 480 kg is the largest payload in this range and it changes what the tow vehicle has to be. A trailer licensed at 2 250 kg gross needs a vehicle with the braked towing capacity to match, and the combination mass has to sit inside what your licence code permits, which for most drivers means an EB code rather than a B. The rules are in the National Road Traffic Act and the rating is in your vehicle handbook. Tell us what you tow with and we will check both before you order, because this is the model where the vehicle, not the trailer, usually sets the limit.
Hunter against the rest of the range
The Offroader shares the body and clearance but carries 1 030 kg on a lighter chassis, and weighs 270 kg less empty, which suits a smaller vehicle. The Bushbaby is smaller again. If you are carrying game, generators, long-range fuel or a full hunting camp, the Hunter is the one in this range built for it. All of them are listed under off-road and camping trailers.
Loaded, on a farm road
A hunting trailer earns its keep on the way home rather than on the way out. Loaded with a full camp, fuel and game, the Hunter sits on running gear rated well above the licensing figure, and that margin is what keeps bearings and springs alive on a corrugated farm road at the end of a long week. The lockable enclosures matter for the same practical reason: rifles, tools and recovery gear stay separated from the camp kit, and the trailer can be left standing at a camp without repacking it into the vehicle every evening.
