About this trailer
Add 300 mm to the body of the Elite 5 and you have the Elite 6 luggage trailer, which is the size most families settle on once they have packed a trailer twice. The body runs 1 760 mm by 1 180 mm inside, tare is 160 kg, and the 700 kg gross rating leaves 540 kg of payload before any fitment is added.
Why the Elite 6 luggage trailer is the one most people end up buying
Six foot is the point where a trailer stops being a box for the overflow and starts carrying the whole holiday. A two room tent, a folding table, a fridge, four sets of bedding and the bags all go in with room left to reach the front. The extra 300 mm over the five foot body costs 20 kg of tare and a little more length to park, and buys a great deal of practical room. Six blade leaf springs sit under it instead of the four blade pack used on the shorter body, which is the one mechanical change worth knowing about.

Seven builds, seven prices
Every option in the dropdown is a separate factory build with its own price, and where the builder publishes a tare mass for that build we have listed it here.
- Base build with nose cone and spare wheel, 160 kg tare
- Aluminium roofrack, 168 kg tare
- Steel roofrack, 183 kg tare
- Cycle rack, 187 kg tare
- Extension frame, 187 kg tare
- Grey body, no separate tare published
- White body, no separate tare published
Grey and white bodies are priced configurations
The grey and white versions are not a colour you tick at no cost. They are distinct builds carrying new graphic stripes and the familiar V-dip in a plainer treatment, and each has its own price on the dropdown above. No separate tare figure is published for either, so we do not quote one. Work on the 160 kg base figure until that changes, and tell us if the exact mass matters to your load planning.
Tare, payload and the arithmetic that matters
The 700 kg gross rating is fixed. Anything bolted to the trailer is subtracted from what you may legally load. From 540 kg on the base build, the aluminium roofrack takes you to 532 kg, the steel roofrack to 517 kg, and the cycle rack and extension frame both to 513 kg. Then remember that a rack carries weight of its own high above the axle line, so the useful figure drops again once four bicycles or a rooftop load are up there.
Brakes and licensing at 700 kg
Nothing on this trailer is braked, and at 700 kg gross nothing needs to be. What your licence permits you to tow, and how the trailer is registered and licensed, is a matter for the National Road Traffic Act, published in full on the government website. We would rather point you at the source than quote a code that may not match your circumstances.
How the six foot body compares
The five foot body is easier to park and cheaper to buy. The Elite 7 luggage trailer gives you another 365 mm of body and 20 kg more tare for the same towing behaviour. All three share the 1 550 mm overall width, the 1 085 mm overall height and 155 x 13 inch wheels, so nothing about mirrors, garage doors or spare tyres changes across the range. Compare them side by side on the single-axle closed body trailers page.

Delivery, warranty and ordering
Every build on this page clears R20 000, so delivery is free, and collection from our Hartswater yard is always an option. We are a retailer rather than the manufacturer: the cover you get is the builder warranty, which we administer on your behalf and set out on the warranty page. Use the request a quote form for a written price, a trade-in figure, or a straight answer on whether the six or the seven foot body suits your car.

Questions about this trailer
How much can the Elite 6 carry?
540 kg on the base build, against a 700 kg gross rating and a 160 kg tare. Fitments reduce it: 532 kg with the aluminium roofrack, 517 kg with the steel roofrack, and 513 kg with either the cycle rack or the extension frame.
Why do the grey and white bodies cost more than the base trailer?
They are separate factory builds rather than a free colour choice, each with its own price. They carry different graphics and a plainer styling treatment. No separate tare mass is published for them.
Does it need brakes or a special licence?
It is unbraked at 700 kg gross and the specification lists no braking system. Licence codes and registration are governed by the National Road Traffic Act, so check the current text or your licensing office rather than relying on a rule of thumb.
How is it different from the Elite 5 and Elite 7?
Body length and tare. The 5 has a 1 460 mm body at 140 kg, the 6 has 1 760 mm at 160 kg and the 7 has 2 125 mm at 180 kg. Width, height, wheels and axle are common across the three.
Is delivery included?
Yes. Free delivery applies on orders over R20 000 and every build on this page is above that. Collection from Hartswater in the Northern Cape is also welcome.
