About this trailer
This double axle utility trailer is the 4.0 m by 1.8 m multi-purpose unit, plated at 2 300 kg gross and offered in four build grades so you buy the strength you actually need. All four share the same deck size and twin 1 600 kg leaf-sprung axles; they differ in side height, floor thickness and whether mesh sides are fitted. Pick the grade from the dropdown and the price updates.
Choosing the right double axle utility trailer grade
The Standard grade runs 800 mm sides on a 1.6 mm floor, which suits general cargo, drums and pallet loads. The Heavy-Duty grade steps the sides up to 1 000 mm on a thicker 2.0 mm floor for deeper, denser loads and rougher daily use. Either grade can be ordered with mesh sides added, which lets you carry loose or bulky material like garden refuse, bags or light game feed without it spilling. Every grade is braked and built on the same 76 x 38 x 5 mm open-channel ladder-frame chassis.
Build and deck
The chassis and A-frame are 76 x 38 x 5 mm steel open channel, and the floor is lipped-channel or plate steel, 1.6 mm on Standard and 2.0 mm on Heavy-Duty. Wheels are 14 inch. As a multi-purpose trailer the sides are removable, so the same unit works flat for a pallet or sided for loose loads, and the mesh option simply swaps solid panels for mesh. The finish is painted 2K Duco throughout.

Payload, GVM and licensing
All grades are plated at 2 300 kg gross on axles rated 1 600 kg each. The supplier does not publish a dependable tare, so we confirm the empty mass and payload in writing before you order rather than quote a figure we cannot verify. At 2 300 kg GVM the trailer is well over the 750 kg braking threshold and braked as standard; the tow vehicle needs matching braked towing capacity and a licence code covering the combination, as set out in the National Road Traffic Act.
Where it sits in the range
This is the mid double-axle size. The 2.3 ton 3.0 m unit is shorter for tighter yards, while the 3 ton 4.0 m unit plates higher for heavier loads on the same deck. See the whole line under double-axle cargo trailers, or browse the full range.

Questions about this trailer
What is the difference between the grades?
Standard has 800 mm sides on a 1.6 mm floor; Heavy-Duty has 1 000 mm sides on a 2.0 mm floor. Either can be ordered with mesh sides for loose loads. All four share the deck, axles and 2 300 kg GVM.
Which grade should I choose?
Standard suits pallets, drums and general cargo. Heavy-Duty suits deeper, denser loads and rougher daily use. Add mesh if you carry loose material like refuse or feed.
Is it braked?
Yes, every grade is braked as standard because at 2 300 kg GVM it is well over the 750 kg braking threshold.
What is the payload?
All grades are plated at 2 300 kg on 1 600 kg axles. The supplier publishes no reliable tare, so we confirm empty mass and payload in writing before you order.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes, free on orders over R20 000, with collection from Hartswater available by arrangement.
