3 Ton Double Axle Dropside Trailer 6.0m

The 6m dropside trailer is the long-deck version, a 6.0 m by 2.4 m double-axle unit plated at 3 000 kg gross with 300 mm fold-flat sides and a rear gate. It combines a flatbed length of deck for long material with the option of sides for loose loads, on the heaviest running gear in the dropside range.

What the 6m dropside trailer handles

Six metres of 2.4 m-wide deck takes long loads that a 4 m trailer cannot: timber, fencing, sheeting or piping, carried supported along their length. Drop the 300 mm sides and it loads flat from any side or by forklift; raise them and it holds a bulk loose load. At 3 000 kg GVM on twin 1 800 kg axles it has the plating to match the deck, which suits contractors and hardware suppliers moving long, mixed loads.

Build and deck

The deck is a 2.0 mm steel-plate floor on a 76 x 38 x 5 mm open-channel ladder-frame chassis, wheels under the trailer to keep the full 2.4 m width. The 300 mm drop sides and rear gate are plated on a steel frame and hinge flat. It runs twin 1 800 kg leaf-sprung axles, is braked, and is finished in painted 2K Duco, with lashing points for long loads.

Payload, length and licensing

Plated at 3 000 kg gross on 1 800 kg axles, this trailer needs a tow vehicle with real braked towing capacity and, for most drivers, an EB licence code. A 6 m deck also brings overhang and securing duties that sit with the towing driver under the National Road Traffic Act. The supplier publishes no dependable tare, so we confirm the empty mass and payload in writing before you order.

Where it sits in the range

This is the longest dropside. The 3 ton 4.0 m dropside is shorter and easier to manoeuvre at the same plating. For a permanently open long deck, the 6.0 m flatbed is the alternative. Compare the range under double-axle cargo trailers.
