WhatsApp about this trailerAbout this trailer
A cool room trailer differs from a chiller trailer in one way that changes everything: you walk into this one. A chiller is loaded from outside and works as cold transport. A walk-in is a room you work in, at full standing height, which makes it the answer for a caterer staging a function, a venue needing cold capacity for one weekend a year, or a hire company whose customers want a cold room without calling a builder.
Build and construction
The enclosure is full-height insulated panel on a road-legal galvanised steel trailer frame, with corner stabiliser jacks and LED road lighting. Panels are polyurethane injected sandwich construction at 75 mm, cool-storage grade. The walk-in door is heavy-duty insulated on a cam lock with a full perimeter magnetic gasket seal. Interior is smooth white hygienic lining with an insulated white ceiling panel, a commercial-grade non-slip aluminium checker plate floor and an internal drain, so the whole room hoses out between hires.
Key features
- Interior safety release handle — the door cannot lock a person inside. On a sealed insulated enclosure that people walk into, this is not a convenience feature, and it is the first thing worth checking on any walk-in unit you are quoted, from us or anyone else.
- Full standing height interior — staff work inside rather than reaching in, which is the entire difference between this and a chiller body.
- 75 mm polyurethane panels — cool-storage grade, keeping the condensing unit cycling rather than running flat out through a summer afternoon.
- Smooth white hygienic lining and internal floor drain — designed to be washed down between bookings, which is what makes it viable as a hire asset rather than a one-customer unit.
- External digital temperature readout — check the room without opening the door and warming it.
- High-temperature audible alarm — tells you a door has been left open while the stock is still saveable.
- Roof or side mounted condensing unit — with an external air-cooled condenser and an internal roof-mounted evaporator fan coil, so heat is rejected outside the insulated envelope.

Applications
Wedding and function catering, festival and sports event cold storage, wine and beverage staging, farm stall and market overflow, restaurant refurbishment cover while a fixed cold room is out of service, floristry, and hire fleets serving all of the above. It is also bought by venues that need cold capacity a handful of weekends a year and cannot justify building a room for it.
Compliance and legal
Rated at 1 500 kg GVM, so it is a registered and licensed braked trailer. Confirm your tow vehicle rated braked towing capacity before purchase. If you are storing food commercially, the transport of perishable foodstuffs regulations under the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act govern surfaces, cleanability and temperature records. The hygienic lining, the drain and the external readout make compliance achievable; the record keeping is yours. Tare mass is not published by the supplier and is required for licensing.

Questions about this trailer
What is the difference between this and the chiller trailer?
You walk into this one. The chiller is a load box you reach into and it works as cold transport. The cool room is a full standing-height room you work inside, which is what suits catering, events and hire rather than distribution.
Can someone get locked inside?
No. There is an interior safety release handle and the door cannot be locked from outside with a person in it. That is a non-negotiable on any walk-in refrigerated enclosure and worth verifying on any unit you are quoted.
Does it hold freezing temperatures?
No. This unit runs 2 to 10 degrees, which is cool storage. For frozen product you want the deep-freeze unit with 100 mm panels and a thermal break, which is a different build entirely.
Can it run at a venue with no plug?
Not on its own. It needs 220 V shore power. For outdoor events and farm sites, specify a generator set and size it for compressor start-up load rather than running load.
Is it worth buying to hire out?
It is one of the better hire assets in the range, because the cost of a fixed cold room means venues and caterers rent rather than build. Ask us about racking and fleet pricing, and factor washdown turnaround time between bookings into your rate.
