About this trailer
If your gear is deep rather than long, the Voyager 6 ft luggage trailer is the one to look at. It carries a body over 500 mm deep on 14 inch wheels, a 650 mm nosecone and eight blade springs, and TRAILERS SA lists it in four configurations from the plain trailer up to a cycle rack build.
What the Voyager 6 ft luggage trailer is built to carry
The load box is 1805 mm long and 1135 mm wide inside with 640 mm sides, which is a great deal deeper than a conventional luggage trailer of the same footprint. Depth is what lets a camping fridge, folded chairs, a rolled tent and stacked crates travel in one layer instead of three. Ahead of the body a 650 mm nosecone takes the small awkward items. Overall the trailer measures 2750 mm long, 1575 mm wide and 1250 mm high, with 300 mm of clearance to the bottom of the axle and 195 by 14 inch five stud wheels underneath.

The four configurations we list
- Base trailer, 280 kg tare, overall height 1250 mm.
- Steel roofrack, published at the same 280 kg tare, overall height 1350 mm with 820 mm of side height.
- Cycle rack, published at the same 280 kg tare, overall height 1255 mm.
- Extension frame, priced by the builder but published with no specification block of any kind.
Read that fitment list carefully, because it is unusual. The builder publishes 280 kg of tare for the base trailer, the steel roofrack build and the cycle rack build alike, which means the published legal payload stays at 470 kg across all three. A rack does have mass in the real world, so weigh the trailer before you load to the limit. The extension frame configuration has no published tare, gross vehicle mass or dimensions at all, and we will not invent them for it.
Payload, mass and staying road legal
Gross vehicle mass is 750 kg and tare is 280 kg, giving 470 kg of legal payload. That 750 kg figure is significant: it is the point at which a trailer must be braked, so this model sits exactly on the line rather than over it. The builder does not publish a brakes line for the Voyager, so if you intend to load right to the rating, ask us to confirm the braking arrangement in writing before you order. The requirements sit in the National Road Traffic Act, and your licence class is a question for the Act and your testing station.
How it compares with its stablemates
Set against the GTE 7 luggage trailer, the Voyager is 80 kg heavier, deeper in the body, rated 50 kg higher and rides on 14 inch wheels instead of 13. It costs more and it earns that. The seven foot Voyager adds 300 mm of floor for the same tare and rating. Everything in the family is listed on our single axle closed body trailers page.
Carried on every configuration
- Body of zinc galvanised sheet steel, over 500 mm deep.
- Nosecone of 650 mm for additional enclosed storage.
- Gas assisted flip up lid and a wide rear tailgate for loading.
- Two fold away extension legs for stability when parked.
- Eight ring holders inside for tying the load down.
- Spare wheel, adjustable jockey wheel and multi function LED lighting.
What the builder does not publish
We are a retailer and we quote the builder specification rather than our own. For the extension frame configuration that specification is simply absent, and for the racked configurations the tare is published as unchanged. Both are worth confirming before you commit to a load plan. Ask us and we will take the question to the factory in writing.
Delivery, warranty and ordering
Every configuration is well above R20 000, so delivery is free on our runs, and collection from our Hartswater yard is open to you if you want to see the trailer first. Terms are on our delivery page. The trailer carries the builder warranty, which we administer on your behalf, so a fault comes to us and we take it up with the factory. Cover is set out on the warranty page. For a written comparison of the four configurations, or a price on more than one, use the request a quote form.

Questions about this trailer
How much can the Voyager 6 ft luggage trailer carry?
The published payload is 470 kg, being a 750 kg gross vehicle mass less the 280 kg tare. That figure is published as unchanged on the racked configurations.
How deep is the body?
The sides stand 640 mm and the builder describes the body as over 500 mm deep, on a floor 1805 mm long and 1135 mm wide, with a 650 mm nosecone ahead of it.
Does a roofrack reduce the payload?
The builder publishes the same 280 kg tare for the base, steel roofrack and cycle rack builds, so on paper the payload is unchanged. A rack has real mass, so weigh the trailer before loading to the limit.
Why is there no specification for the extension frame build?
The builder prices that configuration but publishes no specification block for it. We will not fill in figures we cannot source. Ask us and we will get written confirmation.
Is delivery included?
Yes. Every configuration is above R20 000, so delivery on our runs is free. Collection from our Hartswater yard in the Northern Cape is also available.
