About this trailer
Measured on the inside, the Traveller 7 closed body trailer gives you a dry steel box 2 690 mm long and 1 200 mm wide on a single non-braked axle, at a published tare of 340 kg. TRAILERS SA sells it in the two body styles the builder lists, Sputnik and SLK, each priced separately here.
What the Traveller 7 closed body trailer is built to carry
Everything here is aimed at cargo that has to arrive dry and out of sight. Roof and sides are sheet steel rather than canvas, so tools, furniture, camping kit, seed bags and spares travel sealed. Loading works from two directions: a rear door 1 010 mm high by 845 mm wide, and a side door 1 010 by 550 mm, which earns its keep when the trailer is reversed tight against a wall. Published ground clearance is 215 mm, enough for district gravel and farm two-tracks, though this is a road trailer and not an off-road build.

Sputnik body or SLK body
This is the part most sites gloss over, so here it is straight. On mass and load the two shells are identical: 340 kg tare, 750 kg GVM, 410 kg payload, a 1 480 mm axle rated at 1 250 kg, eight blade springs and 165 x 13 inch wheels. The Sputnik listing names a galvanised coupler, an eight inch twin-bearing jockey wheel, flush floor-mounted ring holders and a primer coat under white paint. The SLK listing names an aerodynamic round nose, a six inch jockey wheel and seven tie-down rings. Beyond that the builder publishes nothing further, and we will not invent a difference to explain the price step. If it decides your purchase, ask on the quote form and we will get it confirmed in writing.

Payload, GVM and licensing
Plan around the published numbers: 340 kg tare, 750 kg gross vehicle mass, 410 kg payload. That 750 kg figure is not an accident. It sits exactly on the threshold at which South African law stops allowing an unbraked trailer, which is why no braking system is published for this model. Load discipline matters more here than on a braked unit, because past 410 kg you are outside the certified mass rather than merely uncomfortable. Towing mass, braking and licence requirements are set by the National Road Traffic Act and its regulations, not by any dealer, so check your own licence and tow vehicle rating against the current text.
Where the Traveller 7 sits in the range
Treat this as the first genuinely commercial box in the closed body line-up. Below it sit light luggage trailers such as the Voyager 7 ft, built around weekend luggage rather than daily working loads. Above it the 3/4 ton builds move to a 1 525 mm inside width, 195 x 14 inch wheels and, braked, a 1 150 kg GVM. Compare the full line-up on the single-axle closed body trailers archive.
What the extra spend buys
We also carry a budget closed body range at roughly half this money, and it is honest gear for occasional use. Stepping up buys certified published figures rather than estimates: a stated tare and GVM you can weigh against, an eight blade leaf pack, galvanised sheet steel through body and roof, a galvanised coupler and a spare wheel in the price. On a trailer that works weekly rather than twice a year, those parts decide whether it is still square in five years.
Delivery, warranty and ordering
Order online or by phone. Delivery is free on orders over R20 000, and you are welcome to collect from our yard in Hartswater in the Northern Cape if you would rather inspect before you hitch up. Coverage areas are set out on our delivery page. TRAILERS SA is a retailer, not the manufacturer: the unit carries the builder warranty, which we administer on your behalf, and the scope of that cover is explained on our warranty page. Tell us what you tow with and we will confirm the fit.

Questions about this trailer
Is the Traveller 7 fitted with brakes?
No. The builder publishes no braking system for either body, at a gross vehicle mass of 750 kg. That is the ceiling at which an unbraked trailer remains legal in South Africa. If you need brakes on a closed body van, the 3/4 ton braked build is the next step up in the range.
What is the difference between the Sputnik body and the SLK body?
On published figures, only the overall length, 3 285 mm against 3 235 mm, and the fittings each listing names. Tare, GVM, payload, axle, springs and wheels are identical. The builder does not publish anything further, so we ask the factory in writing rather than guessing.
How much can I legally load?
Published payload is 410 kg, being a 750 kg GVM less a 340 kg tare. Weigh your own trailer once it is fitted out, because accessories and a fitted floor covering come off that 410 kg.
Does the price include a spare wheel?
Yes. The specification lists a 165 x 13 inch spare wheel and a pad-lockable holder mounted on the left mudguard, on both bodies.
Can you deliver to my town?
Delivery is free on orders over R20 000 within our delivery area, and collection from Hartswater is always available. Send us your address on the quote form and we will confirm before you order.
