Where the other two workshop bodies are essentially empty shells, the Model B Workshop Trailer arrives already organised. Twenty parts bins, a three shelf internal unit, a tool panel with prongs and clips, a roofrack and a gas cylinder compartment are all part of the standard build. TRAILERS SA sells this model as a retailer from Hartswater. The builder does not publish a price for it, so it is priced on application.

How the interior is laid out

• Twenty SB150 storage bins of 230 x 150 x 125 mm in a rack for small parts
• Internal storage shelf of 1100 x 380 x 475 mm with three shelves
• Tool storage behind the left hand flap on a perforated panel with prongs and spring clips
• 27 single 50 mm prongs, 3 double 75 mm prongs and a 3 way plier holder
• 43 super quick fasteners, 3 clips of 6 mm and 3 clips of 12 mm
• A 19 way socket holder and a 9 way star and screwdriver holder
• Two optional steel cases fitted with 7 utility boxes of 75 x 75 x 52 mm and 14 of 150 x 75 x 52 mm

Towing at 750 kg GVM

GVM is published at 750 kg, which puts this trailer right on the line where brakes become compulsory rather than over it, and the builder specifies it with no brakes. Tare is 360 kg, so payload is 390 kg. Loaded with a full bin rack, a set of tools and a couple of gas cylinders, you will get closer to that number than you expect, so weigh it once. The towing and licensing framework is the National Road Traffic Act.

Where it fits against Model A and Model C

This is the smallest and lightest of the three, at 360 kg tare against 420 kg for Model C and 580 kg for the Model A Workshop Trailer. It is also the only one that comes fitted out rather than empty, and the only one on 165 x 13 inch wheels. Payload is the trade off at 390 kg. Choose it when the work is small parts, fittings and hand tools rather than a generator or a compressor.
