What the GTE 6 luggage trailer is built to carry

The load box runs 1780 mm long by 1180 mm wide inside with 560 mm sides, and the nosecone adds a further 620 mm of enclosed length ahead of the body for the awkward small items that always end up loose. Overall length is 2960 mm and overall width 1550 mm, with 1125 mm of height and 250 mm of ground clearance. In practical terms that is a full camping kit for a family of four, a covered load of building offcuts, or a weekend market stand with the tables lying flat and the stock stacked over them.

Nosecone, spare wheel and standard fitment

• Enclosed nosecone, 620 mm long, mounted ahead of the main body.
• Spare wheel supplied with the trailer and matched to the 155 x 13 inch fitment.
• Six blade leaf springs on a 1400 mm axle rated at 700 kg.
• Non braked single axle running gear.
• Closed lockable body, so the load travels dry and out of sight.

This model is sold as one package rather than as a base trailer with a list of extras, which is why there is a single price rather than a range. If you later add a roofrack or a cycle carrier, the mass of that accessory is subtracted from the 520 kg payload rather than added to the gross vehicle mass, so plan the load around the lower figure.

Payload, mass and staying road legal

Rated at 700 kg gross vehicle mass with a 180 kg tare, this trailer offers 520 kg of legal payload and runs without brakes. That is correct and compliant: braking becomes compulsory above 750 kg, and 700 kg keeps the trailer under the line with room to spare. What it does not do is exempt you from the tow rating on your own vehicle, which is usually the real limit on a light passenger car. Read the requirements in the National Road Traffic Act rather than relying on a rule of thumb, and ask your testing station which licence class applies to you.

Where the GTE 6 sits in the range
