What the 2.3 ton utility trailer handles

Two axles change how a loaded trailer behaves. The weight sits across four wheels instead of two, so the trailer tracks straight under a heavy or uneven load and a single puncture does not put the deck on the ground. On a 3.0 m by 1.5 m floor at 2 300 kg GVM, this is the size most contractors and smallholders reach for: long enough for pallets, generators, drums or fencing, short enough to reverse into a yard without a fight.

Build and deck

The chassis and A-frame are 76 x 38 x 5 mm steel open channel in a ladder-frame layout, and the floor is a 2.0 mm lipped-channel or plate steel deck that takes point loads from machinery rather than flexing. It is finished in painted 2K Duco. As a multi-purpose unit it runs with removable sides, so the same trailer works as a flat deck for a pallet and a sided trailer for loose loads. Mesh side upgrades are available on the larger 4.0 m models in this range.

Payload, GVM and licensing

The trailer is plated at 2 300 kg gross on axles rated 1 600 kg each, so there is real margin in the running gear. The supplier does not publish a dependable tare, so we confirm the empty mass and the resulting payload in writing before you order rather than quote a figure we cannot verify. At 2 300 kg GVM it is well over the 750 kg braking threshold and is braked as standard; the tow vehicle needs the matching braked towing capacity and a licence code covering the combination, as set out in the National Road Traffic Act.
