The 1.8 ton utility trailer is the largest single-axle unit in the range, a braked 4.0 m by 1.8 m multi-purpose trailer plated at 1 800 kg gross. It gives near double-axle deck space and payload on one braked axle, for operators who want the capacity without the extra tyres and complexity of a tandem.

What the 1.8 ton utility trailer is for

A 4.0 m by 1.8 m deck at 1 800 kg GVM covers serious working loads: full pallets, sand and stone, fencing, or a compact machine. On a single braked axle it is simpler to service and lighter to tow than a tandem of similar size, while the braked axle keeps a heavy load under control on the descent and in traffic. It suits smallholders, builders and light plant operators who load heavy but do not need the redundancy of two axles.

Build and deck

It is built on an open-channel ladder-frame chassis with a steel floor, removable sides and a painted 2K Duco finish. The full 1.8 m width matters as much as the length for pallets and bulky loads. As a multi-purpose trailer the sides come off for flat loads and stay on for loose ones.

Payload, braking and licensing

Plated at 1 800 kg gross on a braked axle, this trailer needs a tow vehicle rated for a braked trailer of this mass. The supplier does not publish a dependable tare, so we confirm the empty mass and payload in writing before you order. As an over-750 kg trailer it must be braked, and the licence and combination-mass rules are set out in the National Road Traffic Act.
