About this trailer
The 1.3 ton utility trailer is the braked single-axle step up from the 750 kg range, a 3.0 m by 1.5 m multi-purpose unit plated at 1 300 kg gross. The extra plating nearly doubles what you can legally carry over a 750 kg trailer while keeping a single axle, and it is offered in three grades so you match the build to the load.
What the 1.3 ton utility trailer carries
At 1 300 kg GVM this trailer is built for real working loads: a full pallet, drums of fuel or water, building material or a small machine that would put a 750 kg trailer over its plate. It runs a braked axle, so the tow vehicle helps stop the load rather than being shoved by it, which matters as soon as you are carrying more than half a tonne. It stays a single-axle trailer, so it is lighter and easier to manoeuvre than a tandem of similar capacity.
Choosing the grade
The Standard grade runs 800 mm sides on a 1.6 mm floor for general cargo. The Heavy-Duty grade steps the floor up to 2.0 mm and the sides to 1 000 mm for deeper, denser loads and rougher daily use. The Heavy-Duty build is also available with mesh sides for loose material. All three share the same 1 300 kg plating, braked axle and 76 mm open-channel chassis.

Payload, braking and licensing
Plated at 1 300 kg gross on a braked 1 600 kg axle, this trailer needs a tow vehicle rated for a braked trailer of this mass. The supplier does not publish a dependable tare, so we confirm the empty mass and payload in writing before you order rather than quote a figure we cannot verify. Because it is over 750 kg it must be braked, and the licence and combination-mass rules are set out in the National Road Traffic Act; we will check your vehicle rating with you.
Where it sits in the range
This is the entry braked single-axle option. Below it, the unbraked 750 kg 3.0 m unit shares the deck but carries far less. Above it, the 1.8 ton 4.0 m unit plates higher on a longer deck. Compare the range under braked utility trailers.

Questions about this trailer
How much more does the 1.3 ton utility trailer carry than a 750 kg?
It is plated at 1 300 kg GVM against 750 kg, so it carries nearly double the load on the same single-axle footprint. Exact payload is confirmed against tare in writing before you order.
Is it braked?
Yes. Above 750 kg a trailer must be braked, so it runs a braked 1 600 kg axle and needs a tow vehicle rated for a braked trailer of this mass.
What are the grades?
Standard with 800 mm sides on a 1.6 mm floor, Heavy-Duty with 1 000 mm sides on a 2.0 mm floor, and a Heavy-Duty mesh version for loose loads.
What licence do I need?
A code B licence covers a braked trailer up to the limits in the National Road Traffic Act and your vehicle rating, which we check with you before you order.
Is delivery free?
Most grades clear R20 000 for free nationwide delivery; any that fall under it are quoted to your town.
