Shipping policy

The commercial terms behind delivery: the free-delivery threshold, access and failed deliveries, when risk passes, and how cross-border shipments work.

Template for legal review. This page has been drafted to reflect South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. It has not been reviewed by an attorney and it is not legal advice. Have it checked and adjusted before you rely on it.

The commercial terms behind delivery: what free delivery covers, what it does not, when risk passes to you, how cross-border works, and what happens if nobody is there when the truck arrives.

1. Free delivery threshold

Orders over R20,000 including VAT qualify for free delivery to any address in South Africa. Apply code TSA26 in the coupon field at checkout to remove the shipping charge. The threshold is measured on the order total, so combining a trailer and spares in one order can take you over it.

Orders under R20,000 are quoted per destination. The figure appears on your written quote before you pay.

2. Collection

Collection from 1 Dwars St, Hartswater, 8570 is free on any order regardless of value, inside business hours. Bring identification and proof of payment. We will check the coupler against your tow bar and run through the lighting before you leave.

3. What free delivery includes

Transport of the trailer to a reasonably accessible address at ground level, and offloading. It does not include craneage, specialised access equipment, delivery into a location a delivery vehicle cannot safely reach, or waiting time beyond a reasonable period on arrival. Where any of those are needed, we will quote them separately in advance.

4. Delivery windows

A delivery date or window is confirmed in writing when your order is accepted. Dates are given in good faith. We are not liable for delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, including weather, road closures, border delays, vehicle breakdown, industrial action or load shedding. If a delivery is going to be late we will tell you rather than let you find out at the gate.

5. Access, and failed deliveries

You are responsible for giving us a correct, complete delivery address and a contactable phone number, and for ensuring somebody authorised to receive and sign for the trailer is there in the agreed window.

Where a delivery fails because nobody is present, because access is not possible, or because the address was wrong, the cost of the return trip and the re-delivery is for your account, whether or not the original delivery was free. This is the one place where free delivery stops being free, and it is worth reading twice.

6. Inspection on arrival

Inspect the trailer before the driver leaves. Check the lighting against your tow vehicle, check that the coupler engages and locks, check tyre pressures, and walk the chassis. Note any damage on the delivery document and photograph it. Full detail on what to look at is on the delivery page.

7. Risk and ownership

Ownership passes to you on receipt of full payment in cleared funds. Risk passes to you on delivery or collection, whichever happens first. From that moment the trailer is yours to insure.

8. Cross-border shipments

We quote into Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Eswatini and Zambia. Cross-border movements are quoted individually and are not covered by the free delivery threshold.

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, import duties, taxes, clearing costs and registration in the destination country are for your account. We supply the commercial invoice and the documentation required on the South African side. Requirements change, so we confirm the current list with you before the trailer moves.

9. Spares and small items

Spares are couriered. Small items generally move faster than trailers because they go through a courier network rather than on our own transport. Courier charges on orders under the free-delivery threshold are quoted at checkout.

10. Registration and licensing

Delivery does not include registering or licensing the trailer. That happens in your name at a licensing office and needs your identity document and proof of address. We supply the documentation required from the seller side.
