The 3 ton utility trailer is the heavy double-axle unit on a 4.0 m by 1.8 m deck, plated at 3 000 kg gross for the loads that would push a 2.3 ton trailer over its plate. It runs twin heavy leaf-sprung axles and a steel open-channel ladder-frame chassis, with a 2.0 mm floor and full removable sides.

What the 3 ton utility trailer is built for

Seven hundred kilograms of extra plating over the 2.3 ton unit, on a longer and wider 4.0 m by 1.8 m deck, makes this the trailer for contractors, plant-hire operators and farms moving genuinely heavy loads. Bricks, sand, a compact machine, drums of fuel or a full pallet load travel inside the licensed mass rather than against it, which is what keeps a working trailer legal at a weighbridge and predictable under braking.

Build and deck

The chassis is steel open channel in a ladder-frame layout, with a 2.0 mm lipped-channel or plate steel floor that stands up to point loads from machinery. It is finished in painted 2K Duco. As a multi-purpose unit it carries removable sides, so the same deck works flat for a pallet or sided for loose material, and the taller 1 000 mm sides on this grade hold a deeper load than the lighter models.

Payload, GVM and licensing

Plated at 3 000 kg gross, this trailer needs a tow vehicle with real braked towing capacity and, for most drivers, an EB licence code to cover the combination. The supplier does not publish a dependable tare, so we confirm the empty mass and the payload in writing before you order rather than print a figure we cannot verify. The licence and combination-mass rules are set out in the National Road Traffic Act, and we will work through them with you before you buy.
