Super 7 Luggage Trailer

Those three numbers describe the Super 7 luggage trailer better than a paragraph of adjectives would, and the rest of this page explains what they mean when the trailer is actually loaded and on the road. Living with the Super 7 luggage trailer

A seven foot body is bought for length, not for volume. Awning poles, a folded gazebo, a stretcher, a surfboard bag or a set of shelves lie flat inside instead of at an angle across the corners, and the difference shows every time you repack at the end of a trip. The lid seals and locks, so the load is dry and out of sight at a fuel stop, and two gas lifts hold it open while you work. Eight tie-down ring holders let you strap a load down in sections, which is what stops things migrating on a gravel road.

The cost of that length is 3 190 mm behind the tow ball. Measure your driveway and your gate before you commit, and remember that reversing a longer trailer is easier, not harder, once you have practised twice.

Each of these is a separate factory build with its own price and, where the builder publishes one, its own tare mass.

A steel roofrack build appears on the smaller models but is not listed here at a price we are prepared to publish, because the source data for it is ambiguous. If you want a steel rack on the seven foot Super, ask us and we will confirm the figure with the builder before quoting you.

Fitments, tare and the payload you actually get

This is the arithmetic that matters most on a seven foot trailer, because it starts with the least headroom. Gross vehicle mass stays at 700 kg regardless of what is fitted, so payload runs from 520 kg on the base build down to 515 kg with the aluminium roofrack, 493 kg with the cycle rack and 491 kg with the extension frame. Four adult bicycles will add roughly the same again on top of the rack itself, which is how an owner ends up over the limit without ever feeling overloaded.

Body colour is a priced configuration

The grey and white bodies are separate builds rather than a colour selected at no cost. Each carries different graphic work and a plainer version of the shape, and each has its own price in the dropdown above. Neither has a published tare mass of its own, so we quote none and leave the base figure of 180 kg as the working number until the builder states otherwise.

Unbraked at 700 kg, and what the law asks

No brakes are fitted to this trailer and at 700 kg gross none are required, which keeps the hitch simple and the servicing minimal. The rules on licence codes, registration and roadworthiness live in the National Road Traffic Act, published on the government website. Because the right answer depends on your licence class and your tow vehicle rather than on the trailer, we would rather send you to the source than quote a code at you.

Where it sits against the six foot body

The Super 6 luggage trailer is 230 mm shorter in the body, 20 kg lighter and gives you 540 kg of payload instead of 520 kg. If you never carry long items, it is the better buy.
