About this trailer

At 1 830 mm the Super 6 luggage trailer has the longest six foot body in this range, 70 mm more than the Elite equivalent on the same 2 890 mm overall length. Tare is 160 kg, gross is 700 kg and payload on the base build is 540 kg. It runs on a single unbraked 700 kg axle, six blade leaf springs and 155 x 13 inch wheels.

Who the Super 6 luggage trailer is for

This is the trailer for the household that goes away properly. Six foot of sealed, lockable body takes a family tent, a camp kitchen, a fridge, bedding for four and the chairs, and still leaves the roof of the car empty, which does more for fuel consumption on a long haul than most people expect. The lid is gas assisted so it stays where you put it while you pack, and eight tie-down ring holders inside the body mean a load can be strapped down properly rather than wedged. Side height is 560 mm, deep enough that soft bags do not have to be squashed to clear the lid seal.

Seven builds and their published tare masses

Each option below is a separate factory build, priced on its own. Where a tare mass is published for that build we have printed it exactly as it stands.

  • Base build with nose cone and spare wheel, 160 kg tare
  • Steel roofrack, 183 kg tare
  • Aluminium roofrack, 185 kg tare
  • Cycle rack, 187 kg tare
  • Extension frame, 187 kg tare
  • Grey body, no separate tare published
  • White body, no separate tare published

One oddity worth flagging rather than hiding: on the published figures the aluminium roofrack build comes out 2 kg heavier than the steel roofrack build on this model, which is the reverse of what you would expect. We have queried it and will correct the page if the figure changes.

What the fitments cost you in payload

The gross rating never moves. Whatever the builder bolts on comes out of your 700 kg allowance, so the payload falls from 540 kg on the base trailer to 517 kg with the steel roofrack, 515 kg with the aluminium roofrack, and 513 kg with either the cycle rack or the extension frame. That is a 27 kg swing across the range of builds. It sounds academic until you weigh a full 40 litre fridge, which is most of it.

Grey and white bodies are priced builds

Colour on this model is a configuration with a price attached, not a free choice at order time. The grey and white bodies carry their own graphic stripes and a plainer treatment of the familiar shape, and they sit at their own prices in the dropdown. No separate tare mass is published for either build, so we do not quote one and we will not estimate it.

Brakes, mass and the law

At 700 kg gross this trailer carries no braking system and needs none, which is why the coupling is a simple ball hitch with a plug holder. Licence codes, registration and the roadworthy rules that apply to you sit in the National Road Traffic Act, published on the government website. We point customers there deliberately, because the correct answer depends on your licence and your tow vehicle rather than on the trailer alone.

Six foot or seven

If you are undecided, the deciding factor is usually length of item rather than volume. The Super 7 luggage trailer adds 230 mm of body and 20 kg of tare, and takes the overall length to 3 190 mm. Everything else, including width, height, wheels and axle, is shared. Both models and the five foot version are listed on the single-axle closed body trailers page.

Standard equipment

  • Nose cone with toggle catch and one 155 x 13 inch spare wheel
  • Eight tie-down ring holders inside the body
  • Six blade leaf springs on a 1 400 mm, 700 kg axle
  • Alko coupler with plug holder and a twin number plate light fitting
  • Two gas lifts, toggle catch and aluminium handle on the lid

Delivery, warranty and ordering

Every build here is priced above R20 000, so delivery is free, and collection from our Hartswater yard remains an option for anyone passing through the Northern Cape. We sell these trailers rather than manufacture them, which means the cover you receive is the builder warranty, administered on your behalf by us and explained on the warranty page. For a firm written price, a trade-in valuation or help choosing a build, send us the request a quote form.

Questions about this trailer

How big is the Super 6 inside?

The body is 1 830 mm long and 1 180 mm wide, with 560 mm side height. Overall length is 2 890 mm and overall width is 1 550 mm, so it fits a standard parking bay and a normal single garage door.

What payload is left once a rack is fitted?

From 540 kg on the base build: 517 kg with the steel roofrack, 515 kg with the aluminium roofrack, and 513 kg with the cycle rack or the extension frame. The 700 kg gross rating does not increase to compensate.

Why does the aluminium rack build weigh more than the steel one?

On the published figures it does, by 2 kg, which is unusual. We print what the builder publishes rather than adjusting it, and we have asked for confirmation.

Are the grey and white bodies extra?

Yes. They are separate builds at their own prices rather than a free colour choice, and no separate tare mass is published for them.

Does it need brakes?

No. It is unbraked at 700 kg gross. Licence and registration questions are governed by the National Road Traffic Act, which is the correct place to check your own position.

Need a trailer quote?

Tell us the load, the tow vehicle and the town. We come back with a spec and a price.
