About this trailer
Buyers who put the Super 5 luggage trailer next to its Elite equivalent usually want to know what the extra money buys. The honest answer, on the published figures, is range placement and trim rather than engineering: 1 460 mm of body, 140 kg tare, 700 kg gross and 560 kg of payload appear on both. Everything below is what the builder actually states about this trailer.
What is published about the Super 5 luggage trailer
This is a five foot closed luggage trailer on a single unbraked axle, built from corrosion resistant electro and zinc galvanised sheet steel with a sealed, locking lid. The lid runs on two gas lifts, the nose cone carries the spare wheel, and six tie-down ring holders sit inside the body. Ground clearance is 250 mm and the body stands 560 mm at the side, which is deep enough for camping gear stacked two layers high without anything pressing against the lid.

Four builds on one page
Rather than list four near identical products, we have put the factory builds on one dropdown. Each has its own price and its own published tare mass.
- Base build with nose cone and spare wheel, 140 kg tare
- Aluminium roofrack, 148 kg tare
- Extension frame, 158 kg tare
- Steel roofrack, 165 kg tare
The payload maths after fitments
Every kilogram the builder adds is a kilogram you cannot load, because the 700 kg gross figure is fixed by the axle rating and does not move. Base build: 560 kg. Aluminium roofrack: 552 kg. Extension frame: 542 kg. Steel roofrack: 535 kg. On a trailer this size that spread is worth thinking about, since 25 kg is a full cooler box. Choose the rack you will genuinely use rather than the one that looks most capable.
Towing a 700 kg unbraked trailer
No brakes are fitted, and at this gross mass none are called for. The practical effect is a simpler coupling, less to service and a lighter trailer to move by hand in a yard. What the law asks of you as a driver, in licence code and in registration, is set out in the National Road Traffic Act on the government website. Check your own class there rather than assuming.
Moving up the Super range
The next step is the Super 6 luggage trailer, which stretches the body to 1 830 mm for 20 kg more tare, followed by the seven foot version. Track width, height, wheels and axle stay the same throughout, so a trailer bought at five foot tows exactly like one bought at seven, only shorter. The whole line is on the single-axle closed body trailers page.
What comes on every Super 5
- Nose cone with toggle catch and one 155 x 13 inch spare wheel
- Six tie-down ring holders inside the body
- Alko coupler with plug holder and a twin number plate light fitting
- Two gas lifts, toggle catch and aluminium handle on the lid
- Long life axle with larger bearings, plus bump stops
Packing a five foot body well
A short trailer is more sensitive to how it is loaded than a long one, because there is less room to move weight around. Put the heaviest items directly over the axle rather than against the tailgate end, and use the tie-down rings instead of trusting friction. Aim for a nose weight that presses down gently on the coupling; a trailer that feels light at the ball is the one that starts to weave at speed. With 560 kg available, most owners run out of space long before they run out of payload.
Two more habits are worth keeping. Check the wheel nuts after the first hundred kilometres of any long trip, and carry the spare properly inflated. The 155 x 13 inch wheel is a common size, but not one every roadside tyre shop keeps in stock on a Sunday afternoon.

Questions about this trailer
Is the Super 5 different from the Elite 5?
Not on the published specification. Body size, tare, payload, axle, springs and wheels are the same. The difference is where each model sits in the range and how it is trimmed, and that shows in the price.
How much may I load into it?
560 kg on the base build. Fitments reduce that because the 700 kg gross rating is fixed: 552 kg with the aluminium roofrack, 542 kg with the extension frame and 535 kg with the steel roofrack.
What does the extension frame do?
It is a factory frame that lets you carry items above the lid line rather than only inside the body. It is a separate build at its own price and it adds 18 kg to the tare mass.
Do I need a braked tow vehicle setup?
The trailer itself is unbraked at 700 kg gross and no braking system is fitted. What you are licensed to tow is a question for the National Road Traffic Act and your licensing office.
Where do I collect or take delivery?
