WhatsApp about this trailerAbout this trailer
Take the workshop to the breakdown instead of dragging the breakdown back to the workshop. That is the job the Model A Workshop Trailer does, and it is the largest of the three workshop bodies in this range. Fold down side doors turn into work surfaces, the interior takes bulky equipment, and everything locks. TRAILERS SA supplies it new from Hartswater as a retailer, and every figure quoted here is published by the builder.

Towing a braked 1600 kg trailer
GVM is 1600 kg on a single 1800 kg axle with run-in brakes, which the law requires above 750 kg. Tare is 580 kg, so 1020 kg of payload is available for tools, spares, a generator, a compressor or a welder. That is a genuine one ton of working kit, and it is worth weighing a loaded trailer once rather than assuming. Check the tow rating of your vehicle before you buy, since that rating, not the trailer, sets your legal ceiling. Licensing and towing requirements are laid out in the National Road Traffic Act.
Model A against Model B and Model C
Model A is the big one. It is 1530 mm wide inside against 1210 mm on the half ton Model B, it carries 1020 kg against 390 kg, and it is the only one of the three with a serving hatch 2140 mm wide. Model C sits in between at 680 kg of payload with the same 1530 mm internal width but a shorter 2125 mm body. If your work needs a person standing inside with the equipment, Model A is the one. If it is mostly organised small parts, the Model B Workshop Trailer layout will suit better.
Trades that put it to work
Plant hire yards, construction site teams, municipal maintenance crews, mining contractors and irrigation installers all use a body like this. The appeal is simple: one lockable unit holds the tools, the consumables and the machine, and it can be dropped at a site and left. A trailer that arrives complete also saves the second trip back to the yard for the one tool that was left behind. Browse the wider selection on the workshop trailers category page.
Working out of the trailer
The side doors fold down flat and become the bench, which is the detail that makes this a workshop rather than a storage box. Behind them sits the perforated tool panel, so spanners and drivers hang where you can see them instead of piling in a box. Seven tie down rings in the floor stop a compressor walking across the deck on a corrugated road. The rear door opening of 1345 mm by 880 mm takes most wheeled equipment, and the 2140 mm serving hatch opens the full side when you need reach. Ground clearance is 220 mm, which is enough for a graded site road.
